Egypt's friendly against Jordan is likely to be postponed until next month, the man charged with organizing the game said on Friday.

Widespread reports said the Egyptian FA decided to call off the match, which is scheduled for October 22, although there has been no official confirmation so far.

"The EFA did not notify us that it wants to cancel the game. I talked with chairman Samir Zaher yesterday and he asked to postpone it," Hadi Al-Sharkawi, manager of the organizing company, told Modern TV.

"The match is likely to go ahead on November 11 or 21. We have yet to agree on the exact date.

"The date will be determined on Monday when Ahli play against Esperance (in the first leg of the African Champions League semi final)."

An EFA source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com on Wednesday that the match is unlikely to go ahead to avoid undermining the confidence of Egypt players if they lose the game.

The Pharaohs are already reeling after slumping to a shock 1-0 defeat at Niger in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers last Sunday.

Jordan Football Association spokesman Mohannad Mahadeen expressed on Thursday his disappointment at the reports indicating that Egypt would not play the game.

However, Sharkawi said the Jordanian officials accepted Egypt's request to stage the match next month.

"Anyway, the EFA will have to pay a $100,000 penalty if the match is cancelled," he added.
