Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is left stranded by the news that defender Michael Turner has joined Titus Bramble in the long-term injury-list.

Center-half Bramble missed this week’s draw with Everton due to a knee ligament problem and is not expected back before the New Year.

His regular defense partner Turner suffered an awkward injury and could also be for a long time due to the same problem.

“It's horrible news. Michael whacked his knee against the post on Monday and damaged knee ligaments,” Bruce told the Black Cats’ website.

“He will see a specialist today (Thursday). I believe it could be months rather than weeks, and that's a big blow to us.”

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last four matches, since the 5-1 derby thrashing at Newcastle last month.

Ahmed Elmohamady’s team visit strugglers Wolves at the weekend as they push for a place in the Premier League’s top five.
