Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan defended his outspoken approach, stressing that critics are only jealous because of the team’s success.

“I really cannot understand why some people get annoyed with my comments,” Hossam Hassan’s twin brother said.

“I am only trying to defend Zamalek’s rights and make sure the club is not undermined.

“I think those who criticize me are only jealous because Zamalek are top, it was more than once that they tried to distract the team.”

Transfers

Hassan sees no problem with Zamalek’s summer signings as he aimed a swipe at former club Ahli.

“I am telling anyone who is unimpressed with our transfers to have a look at other teams who brought more than one player in the same position, ignoring other positions,” he added.

Zamalek’s arch-rivals Ahli recruited Hossam Ghaly, Mohamed Shawky and Abdul-Hamid Shabana in the summer, adding to their already busy midfield.

On the other hand, Zamalek signed Ashour Al-Adham, Wagih Abdul-Azim, Abou Kone, Emad Mohamed and Mohamed Younes, with none of them able to make an impact so far.

Meanwhile, manager Hossam Hassan has agreed to let U-21 trio Mohamed Ibrahim, Omar Gaber and Hossam Arafat take part in the youth league match against Ahli on Tuesday.
