Zamalek forward Hussein Yasser is doubtful for the Cairo derby against Ahli on December 30th as he's set to join up with the Qatar squad for the AFC Asian Cup.

The White Knights allowed the 28-year-old, who has dual Egyptian-Qatari nationality, to travel to the Gulf country in order to fulfill his international duty.

Coach Bruno Metsu originally asked Yasser to fly to Qatar last weekend but Zamalek prevented the former Ahli man from setting off and fielded him in Friday's 2-0 league win over Wadi Degla.

The Cairo giants will be looking to play him in their clash against their arch-foes Ahli too.

They are yet to talk the Qatar Football Association into allowing the pacey player to feature in the anticipated game.

"Yasser travels to Qatar on Saturday," Zamalek's interim chairman Galal Ibrahim told FilGoal.com. "We were keen to keep our relationship with the Qatari association intact.

"We have no right to protest against Yasser's call-up. The competition is accredited by FIFA.

"We will negotiate with the Qatari association over the possibility of having Yasser back only before our clash with Ahli."

The Asian Cup gets underway on January 7th. Qatar will play two friendly matches against Iran and North Korea on December 28th and 31st respectively.
