Zamalek’s mid-season friendly game with Iran’s Sepahan Esfahan was called after just 35 minutes after a dispute between manager Hossam Hassan and the match referee.

An early penalty decision by Emirate ref Ahmed Mohamed against Zamalek seemed to have infuriated Hassan, who carried on protesting until the half-hour mark.

The tension escalated when referee Mohamed sent off the Zamalek manager, only for the latter to refuse leaving the pitch.

Eventually, the referee called off the game as the Iranians were one-nil up in Dubai.
