Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan was left out of Ahli's provisional 25-man squad for the CAF Champions League along with Liberian striker Francis Doe and pacey forward Afrotto.

Hassan, who's still nursing the cruciate ligament injury he sustained in September, will see out his contract with the Red Devils by the end of the season.

The 35-year-old's future with Ahli is still hanging in the balance. He could well make the final Champions League squad should he extend his stay at the Cairo club.

Ahli's new signing Dominique da Silva was named in the squad as well as youngsters Ahmed Nabil 'Manga' and Ayman Ashraf.

Out-of-favor Mohamed Shawky is also on the list, although he didn't play regularly this term under former Ahli coaches Hossam Al-Badri and Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Shafi 'Zizo'.

Ahli, who recently appointed Manuel Jose as boss for the third time, are able to add five more players to their African roster.

Ahli's provisional squad:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami, Ahmed Adel, Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud

Defenders: Wael Gomaa, Ahmed Al-Sayed, Mohamed Samir, Sherif Abdul-Fadil, Ahmed Fathi, Sayed Moawad, Ayman Ashraf

Midfielders: Shehab Ahmed, Hossam Ashour, Moataz Eno, Ahmed Shokri, Mohamed Barakat, Mohamed Abou-Treika, Hossam Ghaly, Mohamed Shawky

Strikers: Geddo, Osama Hosni, Emad Meteb, Ahmed Nabil 'Manga', Mohamed Fadl, Dominique da Silva, Mohamed Talaat
