The Yellow Dragons’ decision comes in the wake of the recent Egyptian Revolution, which brought down several billionaire businessmen with corruption accusations.

The group members also stressed that they are only against the fixed salaries earned by footballers directly from the club’s safe.

Ismaili have been struggling with financial problems in recent years, while several players have been making financial demands way above the club’s facilities.

The coastal club have yet to reach an agreement with star midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou over a new contract as the Egypt international insists on an EGP 5million annual fee.

Fixed budget

Meanwhile, Ismaili chairman Nasr Aboul-Hassan was quick to welcome the Yellow Dragons’ appeal, suggesting that all clubs in the Egyptian Premier League should have a fixed budget for players’ salaries.

“Things cannot be the same in football after the revolution,” Aboul-Hassan said.

“There must be a limit for the millions spent on footballers by club boards. I suggest that each club should pay a maximum of EGP 20million per season on players’ wages.”
