ENPPI decided to donate an unknown percentage of Ahmed Elmohamady's transfer fee to the families of the Egyptian martyrs.

Around 300 people died during the 18-day revolution that forced ex-president Hosni Mubarak to step down on February 11.

Sunderland have recently paid ENPPI £2.5million to turn Elmo's loan deal into a permanent transfer.

The petroleum side said the donation will be made to 'ease the woes' of the martyrs' families.

"It's just a contribution to ease the woes of the families of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their nation," ENPPI's football director Alaa Abdul-Sadek told FilGoal.com.

It's understood that some police forces used live ammunition to disperse the protestors in Tahrir Square, causing a number of young people to die.

Dream

On the other hand, Emohamady said he had realized a long-held 'dream' by signing a permanent contract with Sunderland.

"I am very happy to stay with Sunderland for a long time," he told the Premiership club's official website.

"I like the club and I have done ever since I got here. That is why I stay. Everyone is excellent - the club, players and fans.

"I like Mr (Steve) Bruce a lot. He has helped me very much since I arrived here and I think he is a good person and a good manager.

"My fellow players have treated me well; there is a good feeling in the place. We have excellent players and they are excellent outside the pitch too.

"It is a dream for me to play in the Premier League. I have imagined it ever since I was a child. For me it is the best league in the world - strong and quick."
