Despite recent security doubts sparked by the chaotic events with marred Zamalek’s game with Club Africain, the Egyptian FA announced the restart of the domestic competition on April 13.

“The return of the league is the right decision. Calling the season off would have caused us a lot of financial trouble that could lead us to bankruptcy,” Ibrahim told FilGoal.com.

“Zamalek are one of the clubs who could have suffered dearly from such an end to the season, because most of our revenues come from football.”

Zamalek, who are currently on top of the league table with a three-point lead over Ismaili, were already struggling with financial problems before the January 25 Revolution break.

The crisis forced interim chairman Ibrahim to open a donation account to help increase funds back in November.
