Hilal president Abdul-Rahman Bin Mousaad highlighted - while commenting on Ahmed Ali's performances - that foreign players in Saudi Arabia are likely to be criticized more than natives.

The Egypt frontman joined Hilal from Ismaili in the winter transfer window on loan and has been establishing himself as a starter over the past months.

Many of the Saudi giants' fans slated Ali and called for his immediate departure after the team's 2-1 home loss to Sepahan Esfahan in the AFC Champions League.

Although he put in several assured performances later on, Ali is yet to prove his worth and gain consistent support from the fans.

Bin Mousaad expressed his astonishment over the 'unjustified attack' on the Egypt striker, saying his level of performance is really promising.

"I find it strange the way some people tend to evaluate foreign players based on few games at the beginning of their adventures," Bin Mousaad was quoted by Al-Eqtesadia as saying.

"Everyone slammed Christian Wilhelmsson and called him the 'tactical player' and the '50 million player' when he first joined Hilal. They came down hard on him for no apparent reason.

"The same happened with Brazilian Thiago Neves, before everybody was completely convinced with their capabilities.

"The Egyptian player (Ali) has produced good displays, especially in the last three games near the end of the season. Everyone will agree that he was a good deal, God willing."
