Shehata to ditch Zamalek’s foreign trio

New Zamalek boss Hassan Shehata intends to make significant squad changes ahead of next season as he looks set to offload the team’s three foreign strikers.

The former Egypt coach was unveiled by the Cairo club on Monday, speaking to the press for the first time since taking the job.

Shehata voiced his appreciation to the efforts of his predecessor Hossam Hassan, but hopes the board would provide him with the resources missed by the ex-management.

I spoke to the board about many things including the players I want. I dont want to repeat what happened with the Hassan twins, who were forced to work in very difficult circumstances,” he said.

The team need five or six new players. I want two good players in every position.

I already dropped some players from my plans because I only want those worth of wearing the Zamalek shirt.

Youssef returns to old club

The club have also began the process of offering Emad Mohamed, Mohamed Aoudia and Abou Kone to other clubs.”

Should Zamalek offload the frontline trio, the search for alternatives to fill in the three foreign slots is expected to begin in the near future.

Reports suggested that Senegalese striker Makhete Diop, who plays for Syrias Karamah, is in talks with the Whites over a summer move.

Meanwhile, Zamalek have announced that former Gouna manager Ismail Youssef will be Shehata's assistant.

Former Zamalek striker Osama Nabih has also joined the new staff, as well as Ahmed Soliman, who worked with Shehata as the Egypt goalkeeping coach.
