“Talks are still in progress but Awad will soon be an Ahli player,” Tolba, who played for both Ahli and Ismaili, told FilGoal.com.

“The only disagreement is related to the method of paying his transfer fee.”

Ahli have been targeting Awad after he impressed at the African Youth Championship back in March, helping Egypt win the title in Algeria.

The 20-year-old’s price is expected to boost when he represents Egypt at the World Cup in Turkey next month.

Summer targets

Meanwhile, Tolba revealed that Ahli will be surfing the market for new players within the next few days.

“A meeting with head coach Mohamed Youssef is expected to take place in a few days regarding our summer targets,” the ex-Egypt international said.

“After we learn about the management’s view about new players, we will start our search immediately.”

Ahli are preparing for a crucial phase during the next two months as they look to defend their league title as well as playing in the Champions League group stage.
