Zamalek assistant manager Ismail Youssef believes his side are paying the price of a ‘campaign directed toward referees’, following the defeat to ENPPI.

The Whites, who conceded two goals in the space of 10 minutes to surrender a second-half lead, had two penalty appeals during the league game that were turned down by the referee.

“We paid the price of a campaign directed against referees from media personnel,” Youssef told Zamalek’s website.

“But we - the management - still have faith in our players especially that we put in a fine performance despite the defeat.

“We are able to bounce back and get back to winning ways, I urge the fans to forget the setback and continue supporting the team.”

Zamalek, who are currently third of the Egyptian league table, clash with Ismaili on Wednesday.
