Zamalek striker Amr Zaki will not be fit for next week’s Champions League encounter against Ahli, coach Ismail Youssef said.
The 29-year-old suffered an effusion to his troublesome knee this week and is set to sit out Sunday’s derby clash.
“Amr had a scan on his knee and it is certain he won’t be fit for the Ahli match,” Zamalek assistant coach Youssef told FilGoal.com.
Zaki has been struggling with his knee for the past three seasons, which saw him miss out on several major occasions for club and country.
He missed Egypt’s 2010 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Angola and hardly played three consecutive games for Zamalek over the past couple of seasons.
Given the sudden exit of Razak Omotoyossi, Zaki's absence means that the Whites have Abdoulaye Cisse and Ahmed Gaafar as the only two fit and recognized strikers in the meantime.
