UAE club Al-Wasl have sacked manager Diego Maradona over poor results.

Maradona still had one year remaining on his contract but Al-Wasl officials decided to part ways with him after he failed to win a single title over the past 14 months.

Under the football legend, the club also failed to qualify for the Asian Champions League after finishing eighth in the 12-team league.

Before taking over Al-Wasl, Maradona was in charge of the Argentinean national team.

But the man who is often referred to as the best footballer of all time hardly impressed with his national side as well, having been sacked after the 2010 World Cup.
