Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has confirmed that star striker Nicolas Anelka will not be leaving the club for Manchester United next season.

Recent speculation linked the Frenchman to an Old Trafford move, and Anelka stated that an offer from the Premiership champions will be too good to turn down.

However, Gartside quashed the whole issue when he said that United chief executive David Gill told him that the Red Devils have no interest in acquiring the 28-year-old.

"David Gill has confirmed to me that Manchester United has no interest in Nicolas Anelka," Gartside told Bolton's official website.

The Trotters chairman revealed that the club has no intention in selling their top scorer.

"Sammy Lee is looking to build a squad for next season and we absolutely have no interest in selling any of our better players. Nicolas, of course, is one such player."

Anelka has played for some of Europe's top clubs, including Paris St. Germain, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
