Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan believes that the crow attendance in next week’s Champions League tie against Ulinzi Stars will be crucial to the pending restart of the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek were given the green light to stage the first-round return-leg game at the Military Academy Stadium despite the security uncertainties following the Egyptian Revolution.

While the Egyptian FA have yet to decide on a date to resume domestic competitions, Hassan hopes that the Ulinzi match could provide some relief regarding security.

“I want to thank the armed forces because they accepted our request and granted us permission to host the game at home,” said the twin brother of Zamalek boss Hossam Hassan.

“I think the crowd attendance at the Ulinzi game could be the gate towards having the domestic league back in action.”

Zamalek have almost secured qualification for the last 32 phase as they have a 4-0 lead over their Kenyan opposition from the first leg.
