Four influential ENPPI players threatened to leave the club if their respective wages declined in the wake of the Egyptian Revolution.

The salary cap speculation took place recently, with the Egyptian FA raising the subject during a meeting with club presidents last Sunday.

While Ismaili chairman Nasr Aboul-Hassan praised the idea, ENPPI quartet Islam Awad, Walid Soliman, Adel Mostafa and Nader Al-Ashri don’t seem to be ready for a pay cut.

“The board is considering lowering our wages, which we fully reject. We have deals,” Egypt international Awad said on behalf of his teammates.

“We have a lot of tempting offers from other clubs and if the board wants to minimize the budget, they can sell us before we leave for free.”

Petroleum-sector clubs like ENPPI and Petrojet are expected to face a challenge regarding their spending budget, which is provided by the Ministry of Petroleum.
