MCDR became the second club to earn Egyptian Premier League promotion after defeating Al-Wadi Al-Gadid 2-0 on Wednesday.

The win lifted MCDR to 64 points in Group 1, giving them an unassailable six-point lead over second-placed Bani Suef Telecom with one match remaining.

They join Alexandria-based club Smouha, who finished as Group 3 winners, in the top flight.

Wadi Degla, who are owned by Egyptian businessman Maged Sami, are expected to complete the three slots available for newcomers.

A draw against Egypt's oldest club Railways in their last game will be enough to help Wadi Degla finish on top of Group 2 and seal promotion.

Sami's other club, Belgium's Lierse SK, also earned promotion to the Jupiler Pro League last month.

Asyut Petroleum and Mansoura have been relegated from the Premier League, with the likes of Ghazl Mahalla, Arab Contractors and Masri battling to avoid occupying the last relegation place.
